(DAYTONA BEACH, FL) – Nov. 22, 2011 - Daytona State College’s School of Modern Languages will host a book presentation by Italian author and math teacher Loreta Failoni, Sunday, Dec. 4, from 3 to 4 p.m.
“La bisettrice dell’anima” brings together the author’s passions for numbers, the history of the Shoa and the condition of women in an intriguing and complex psychological journey of growth, renewal and hope. The novel tells the story of Anne, granddaughter of a famous Jewish mathematician victim of Nazism, who, through the logic of math, is able to survive the irrational ferocity of the war and the Nazi persecutions. Published in 2009, this first novel by the author has won various Italian literary prizes including the 2010 prestigious ”Florence for Cultural Peace Award” dedicated to distinguished journalist and author Tiziano Terzani.
The book presentation will take place in the Southeast Museum of Photography’s Madorsky Theater located in the Hosseini Center (#1200), on the college’s Daytona Beach Campus at 1200 W. International Speedway Boulevard.
Presented in English, the event is free and open to the public and will be followed by a Q&A session providing an opportunity to meet the author. For more information, please call (386) 506-3239.
